Both are durable and can be used in almost any climate. With the prototypes already on the drawing board, construction of each shouldn't be longer than a few weeks. This means more people being recruited, and more war items and weapons being built like planes, ships, guns and tanks. The US is in full war mode with the hopes of supporting Japan. All new weapons are being shipped out to US Colonies and bases. 9) US Forces now stationed in the Philippines have enough troops to spare. 20,000 Men from the Philippines are deployed to China to help aid and reinforce Chinese/Japanese troops along the front lines. US B-17's also been flying supply drops over Chinese and Japanese Positions to help aid them in combat until US troops can make it to the front line. 10) The United States announces a new bomber set for introduction sometime in June of next year with an even longer range and more payload capacity than the B-17. The US announces that due to its long range bomber capacity, Japan, France, China, Spain should feel free to call on the US for tactical support in battle even if no US troops are present. With US Bases in Cuba, French South American colonies can be protected, and likewise in the Philippines and China and Japan. With US Bases in these neighboring colonies and nations, US planes are never far from the front. Should an ally need close air support, the US asks that its allies just ask and call in for an air strike.

April 1937 Major News:
1) "The US HAS BEEN ATTACKED" reads one newspaper. While the east coast is facing eminent attacks from British and German planes by use of Aircraft Carriers, the West coast has been relatively quiet.
2) Fearing worse attacks, the President orders the US Naval Reserves in Cuba consisting of 2 Carrier Groups, 7 Battleship fleets and some 100 Destroyers and Heavy Cruisers to attack and totally bombard the Bahamas and Jamaica eliminating any possible southern base of operations for British forces. (details in Conflict/they were small rather unimportant battles but worth of noting that the British lost their Caribbean bases)
3) The US modifies its air force. Detail remain unknown to outsiders.
4) The United States begins producing a 2 Supper Battleships of its own the USS Constitution and the USS Liberty Bell Both will be armed with 18 1/2 inch guns with 4 Main turrets.

8) The US launches an airborne invasion of Vancouver. With most British soldiers attempting to move east to prevent further US Outbreaks in Quebec, US airborne units of the 72nd Airborne and 95th Airborne are flown to Vancouver. (Details in Conflict Soon)
9) US Artillery takes defensive positions hidden in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. British troops unsure of true location for US artillery.
10) Attempting to further divide Canada of British forces, US B-17's fly sorties over Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury. US Fire bombing of these cities has left complete devastation. With England admitting to focusing more on their defense budget rather than infrastructure, the roadways and vital transportation networks that allow for British troop movements hinder a speedy advance on any front. US bombing of these networks does not help as many roadways and railroads collapse and cut off escape routes running east-west. Canada has been divided at Sudbury.
11) Prototype of the B-29 complete. Test flight from US to Japan underway....
12) US Fleet of 31 ships including 2 Air craft Carriers blockade the Suez Canal. All Merchant shipping in the region has been halted and seized. Many oil ships have also been seized and re-routed to US Naval Stations.

14) The US is willing to hear England's offer regarding a swap for Canada if the US can convince Japan to leave Brazil. The US is intrigued, but needs to hear more information before convincing Japan to leave the Brazilians to their communist fate.
15) Now that the US has been attacked and bombed directly, 5 million men enlist to join the Military across the country. US civilians buying war bonds like crazy adding more funds to pay for military research.
16) Women also attempting to enlist in military...While restricted from joining combat units, women are allowed to join Medical Aid Stations and other secretarial duties in the US Military: Including translator, secretary, nurse, maintenance crews and even spies.

August 1937 Major News: 1) USS Iowa 30% complete. 2) USS Montana, Maine and New Hampshire 20% complete. 3) London has been bombed!!! Fleet of 500 B-29's and 300 Dive Bombers hit London on July 24th, 1937. The extreme fire bombing destroyed key weapons and other manufacturing facilities. Also managed to sink a lot of supply ships in the harbor. British population morale hits low. Support for war has greatly diminished. 4) US Anti-Air Defense Network is nearing 75% complete. Much like the Atlantic Wall in Europe, the US has been secretly working on similar defenses. However, there are many additions to the US version of the wall and thus construction is still underway. 5) The US Atlantic Fleet commissions new ships. 6) American forces in France have begun surrendering to overwhelmingly large German forces. The US sends a delegate to Japan to discuss next plan of action." 7) US Scientists begin researching new weapon designs for the US. 8) US reparation of Canadian Infrastructure underway. 9) The last two remaining British carrier groups have retreated behind the Atlantic Wall. US Forces do not pursue. 10) The US Navy commissions new ships. The US dominates the Western Atlantic from Nunavut, Canada down to Cuba and the Caribbean. 11) US Long range technology begins advancing. US Military wants 'more' from US designers. More long range heavy bombers and weapons are being designed. 12) Seeing as how the Europeans are spitting out 'millions' of tanks (most of which are heavy tanks) and sending them into France, the US begins work on building 2 types of Heavy Tanks. The M26 Pershing (Heavy) Tank, and its sister tank the M26 'Super' Pershing Heavy Tank. 13) With US Steel mills required to fill the large orders of tanks, weapons and ship manufacturers, more people are hired and the US enters full war economy, putting all its available resources towards the National Defense and production of war materials. 14) The US establishes a Naval/Air Base on the south west coast of Greenland. The base is located in the area of Kapisillit and the inlet that leads from the ocean into the heart of Greenland. This allows for the base to be sheltered from attack. Also its very isolated and 'out of the way' location makes it an unsuspecting location for enemy patrols. This is a base that the enemy will have extreme difficulty finding even if they put effort into looking for it. 15) With its conquest of Canada over and the territory belonging to the US, The US fortifies Anticosti Island AND Channel Port Aux Basques. This officially seals off the St. Lawrence River from the Atlantic Ocean.

September 1937 Major News: 1)The United States sent a representative to meet with the Quebecois minority in Canada. 2) The US and Spanish forces in Spain are all pooling the entirety of Spanish military and economic resources to establish a defensive line in the Pyrenees Mountains. In this Defensive Spanish Line the United States commits the following resources: 4 million US troops and 4 million Spanish troops 1 million Sherman and T-29 Tanks (combination) complex system of bunkers and entrenched tank/anti-tank/machine gun positions. US Air Support consists of 6000 US Fighters (combo of P-36's and P-40's) and the entire Spanish Air force. Eventually the US plans to send its Pershing Tanks over to Europe once enough have been built.
3) US Weapons Research 2% Complete 4) US Atlantic Wall at 85% complete 5) US Air Force reaches 37,000 Aircraft. 6) US continues to build its submarine fleet in the Atlantic. 7) USS Montana, Maine, and New Hampshire at 35% complete. Construction proceeding on schedule. 8) USS Iowa at 70% Complete. Also proceeding on schedule. 9) The first 400 M-26 Pershing Heavy Tanks have been built.
10) The US sends 7 million men and 3,000 Ships of its fleet to Scotland. With England officially 'switched' sides from Axis to Allies, England pledges its support to the cause of the United States, Japan, China, France & Spain. As a result of changing sides, England opens its ports to the US to American ships and troops. The United States sends these troops to England in preparation of a much larger invasion. However, no one except the US Commanders know where that invasion is going to be.
NOTE: ANYTHING REQUIRING A POST ON THE DIPLOMACY THREAD WILL BE DONE WHEN I AM FINISHED WITH WORK. WHILE I AM AT WORK I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO MAKE ADEQUATE CONFLICT OR DIPLOMACY THREADS.

October 1937 Major News: 1) USS Montana, Maine and New Hampshire at 55% complete. 2) USS Iowa at 90% complete. 3) US Atlantic Wall has been completed. US east coast defense stretches from the Canadian border down to the Florida Keys. Separate defenses have been built on US Caribbean islands but are not included in the Atlantic Wall. 4) Several hundred more M-26 Pershing Heavy Tanks have been built. The US War department is urging the tanks immediate completion. 5) US-Spanish Pyrenees Defensive Line being built in a hurry. The Defensive Line is coming along smoothly however, its construction completion requires more man power. The US Sends another 3 Million troops to help with defense and the construction. In the Pyrenees Mountains Allied AA are being constructed within the mountain passes, making them vulnerable only to dive bombers or direct assault troops. Breeching this defensive line will prove to be difficult. 6) The Pyrenees Defensive Line is nearing 60% completion and is ready to begin receiving tanks to place in their entrenchments. 1 Million Sherman and T-29 Tanks arrive in Spain and are now being put in their defensive places along the defensive line. The allies are calling the defensive line the "Iron Wall" or "Lead Wall" as any opposition to the Defensive Line will have to clime over allied steel or be met with overwhelming allied firepower. 7) M-26 Pershing tanks begin arriving in Spain as well. Half of these tanks as well are being put in the defensive line entrenchments. 8) US Weapons Research is at 4% Complete. 9) 200,000 US Troops arrive on Socotra Island. 10) Quebecois agree to US Terms of alliance. (This is regarding the US Diplomats meeting with Quebecois leaders. The discussion will be posted in the diplomacy thread today). 11) US establishes clear and improved road ways now connecting Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto. The US promise to modernize Canada proves to be true.

November 1937 Major News:
1) US Weapons Research at 6% Complete. 2) Battleship USS Iowa is fully complete. It is deployed In the Atlantic and made the Flag ship of the 7th Atlantic Fleet. 3) USS Montana, Maine and New Hampshire at 75% Complete. 4) British troops discover German design specifications for the Me262 Jet Fighter. In exchange for the designs of the Me262 and Me109 England requests the US share the B-29 Plans. The US agrees and now begins outfitting the US air force with Jet Engines. By the end of the year, the US Air force will be mostly Jet propelled. 5) US Troops in England ready for the invasion. President Roosevelt gives the order to proceed with the invasion codenamed 'Operation Arctic Dragon'. 6) US Invasion armada carrying 800,000 Marines and US Infantry set sail for their target. Leading the Invasion force and US armada are 124 Ice Breakers cutting through the arctic ice fields of the far north Atlantic. Also helping to bring the invasion force to its destination is over 1,600 Troop transport Planes. The airborne units will be landing at very key location to help secure the invasion force's landing zones. 7) Realizing that England has left the Axis powers German forces marching towards the Spanish border are ordered to halt their advance and prepare for a new defensive strategy as their original plan did not take into consideration England ever switching sides. 8) With construction of the Iowa complete, the US begins construction on solely Montana Class and Iowa Class Battleships and the new Air Craft Carrier Nimitz Class. The Nimitz Class is the first United States Super Carrier planned for construction later this month. It will be completed some time next year. 9) The following ships are planned for the Montana Class Battleship: USS - Ohio, Louisiana, New York, Virginia, Oklahoma, Nevada, and the Arizona. (NOTE IN THIS TIMELINE, THE ARIZONA WASN'T SUNK BY JAPAN SO THE US STILL HAS THE SHIP, ONLY NOW IT WILL BE REFITTED AND TRANSFORMED INTO A MONTANA CLASS SHIP). 10) The Following ships are planned for the Iowa Class Battleship: USS - Washington, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Constitution, Andromeda, Excelsior, Excalibur, Liberty. 11) The United States establishes its second base in Greenland. Too far north to be a bother to local people and so far removed that the isolated location makes finding it extremely difficult plus the locations naturally blizzard like conditions, it is an unlikely place for a base. A Run way has been constructed that is twice as long as is needed for the B-29 and double the hangar space has been built. The bases extreme size has US Engineer crews questioning the necessity of such a base. (NOTE: THE UNITED STATES HAS 2 BASES IN GREENLAND. THE LAND HAS BEEN PAID FOR BY THE UNITED STATES TO DENMARK SINCE GREENLAND IS TECHNICALLY A DANISH TERRITORY.) 12)The US has been charged by the government of Denmark 20 million dollars for the land it purchased in Greenland. The US pays this amount. 13) US Recon Planes have been spotted flying along the German defenses of the Atlantic Wall. While out of range of most German AA and never crossing over German controlled defensive lines, it is obvious the US is looking for places to send its invasion force... 14) US Pacific Fleets are ordered to step up security in the Bearing Sea area. 15) US, British and Quebecois reinforcements have reinforced the Pyrenees Defense. With German forces halting their advance in light of England's change of allegiance it is expected that the main German force will not reach the Pyrenees. However, The US M-26 Pershings are ordered to hold the line and are placed at key positions.

Late November 1937 Major News:
1) US Montana Class Battleships: Montana, Maine and New Hampshire are complete. The Montana Class battleships are so large that they do not fit through the Panama Canal. These new Montana Class battleships are so large that even the Imperial Japanese Navy 'Super' Battleships would have difficulty in battle against them. The United States aims to use this new class of Battleship against Germany. 2) US Weapons Research at 8% Complete. 3) The US Invasion of the Soviet Union is successful. over 4 million troops have been brought into the cities of Archangel and Severodvinsk. The US now aims at taking the city of Onega so as to control the Onega river and open a new channel for shipping supplies and troops deeper into Russia. So far Russian resistance is light but US forces are expecting the Soviets to have a larger defensive garrison somewhere near Moscow. 4) England provided the US with the German aircraft designs of the Me109 and Me262. The Me262 is the worlds first Jet propelled aircraft. Taking this design the US Air Force upgraded its air planes to Jet propelled engines as well. 5) President Roosevelt is re-elected to his Second Term in Office. His Second Inauguration will be January 1st, 1938 6) The United States Begins building the Nimitz Class Super Carrier in San Francisco and New York Naval Yards. Two Aircraft carriers are placed under construction, The USS Roosevelt (built in San Francisco) and the USS Enterprise (built in New York). Construction is set to be completed some time next year. 7) Other ship yards around the country have been ordered to fill the large order of building the other Iowa and Montana class battleships. With such a high demand for these valued ships, the United States Naval Department begins hiring local construction and ship wielding companies to assist in the construction process to shorten the time it takes to build one of these titanic monsters. Hiring the local companies to assist brings in an added 2 million workers on the ships around the country. This will greatly reduce the amount of time and energy required to complete the projects and allow for the navy to commission these ships sooner. 8) British planes are dropping supplies over Russia to US forces. 9) The United States troops that had been sent to Socotra Island in the previous months preparing for an invasion of Africa, have gone unused since England switched sides to the Allies. Now the War Department decides to send them in to the Mediterranean and secure the German occupied island of Crete. Of the 200,000 troops on Socotra, 16,000 Men will be sent in as airborne units while the rest of the men are going to conduct an amphibious invasion. The US Sends a small force of 542 Ships including 5 regular battleships, 9 Heavy Cruisers, 11 Destroyers, 10 Light Cruisers and 2 Escort Carriers along with the 37 Troop transports. It is unclear when the invasion will take place, but the intended target will be Crete. 10) The US Army sends US General Patton to Russia to drive home US troops into the Heart of Moscow. The General is a proven Tank Commander and skilled tactician whom even the allies fear and have nicknamed 'Old Blood and Guts'. His hatred for most people makes him a ruthless warrior to have on the field in battle and it is expected that with him in Russia, the Red Armies of the Soviet Union will be defeated sooner.
