Major News:
1) The United States Montana Class Battleships have been purchased and over 300 are being built around the continental US.
2) The United States air force, following in England's wake has finished outfitting all planes with jet engines.
3) US Weapons Research 14% Complete. With Japanese, US and British scientists all collaborating at the secret US Research Facility, the Research is proceeding at a quicker rate. However, research is tenuous and stressful and much more work is required before any breakthroughs can be made.
4) The British, US and Japanese governments have a second team of scientists working in a secret location in Scotland attempting to improve and develop more modern Rocket and AA technology. Again progress is slow and breakthroughs have yet to be made.
5) Japan reveals a new type of plane design. It is highly intuitive and an efficient design. The US looks forward to seeing this new model being used effectively in battle.
6) The US Troops in Russia have received all the reinforcements for the invasion. An enormous US Army of 7 million men and 5,500 Tanks and other armored vehicles have been finally offloaded in the far north of the Soviet Union. While the US troops continue their march south capturing key Soviet cities and towns along the way to Moscow, there is a contingent of 3,000 US troops who have reported the capture of an abandoned and ruined Onega. Undoubtedly destroyed as a part of the Soviet 'scorched earth policy' however, in this case all it did was leave a major port and river unprotected. With the Onega River open from the Bay, and US troops now deep in Russia, the US sends its PT boats laden with supplies and ammunition deep into Soviet territory along the river to US troops stationed in Plesetsk and Pustyn'ka.
7) With British troops leading the drive across Europe from France and Italy, German forces are distracted trying to defend their territory. Not paying attention to the Mediterranean, the US forces from Socotra Island lead an airborne invasion on the island of Crete. With the Island no longer an important part of the German Reich US forces capture it quickly and it can be used as a staging ground for British forces entering and leaving Southern Europe.
8) US General Patton proving successful in Russia. He has driven the US troops hard but his ruthlessness has been rewarded with vast amounts of Soviet Land under US control. Since Patton arrived in the Soviet Union, he has commanded the US forces to victory in capturing the Karelia and Archangelsk provinces of the Soviet Union. This is opening up great opportunities for American forces in the western part of Russia. With these victories, US Bombers have been able to fly missions over major roadways and railroads bombing the routes used to send reinforcements from east to west. With the Soviet Union declared "cut in half" the US Capture of Moscow is envisioned and is planned for sometime late next year.
9) The US Nimitz Class Aircraft carriers are under construction and are currently passing 45% completion and the first ones should be ready for commission by February next year.
10) The First 5 Montana Class Battleships and a fleet of 100 other ships including 10 Iowa Class Battleships, 4 Regular Battleships, 50 Heavy Cruisers, 11 Destroyers, and 20 Submarines sails into the Baltic Sea and small Naval engagements with German ships have been reported. However, with the 5 Montana Class Battleships in the fleet, German Ships and aircraft are unable to get close enough to pose any real threat or cause any damage to US ships. Even the biggest battleship the Germans have, the Bismarck is not big enough to take on the Montana Class ships and therefore the German navy is attempting to keep the Bismarck out of range of US ships. But it is noticed that Germany is not the intended destination of the US Fleet. The US Fleet is destined for St. Petersburg Russia, (aka Leningrad).
11) The US desires a quicker route to the Pacific for its trade and naval ships. While the US built the Panama Canal in the early 20th century, the US never officially colonized Panama and although the Canal is considered US territory, the US has to pay a tariff on good that travel through the canal, costing the US much needed money. The solution the US came up with was to colonize Panama for the duration of the war. With the Panamanian government weak and no where near matching US military strength, the US presents a 'Show of Force" in Panama City by sailing 3 Iowa Class Battleships and 1 Montana Class Battleship and rolling 30 Pershing Tanks down the Panamanian streets with a garrison of 15,000 Marines to hold the Canal area. Panama reluctantly concedes the Canal and its territory to the US knowing there is no way Panama can withstand the US troops in a direct engagement. The US takes Panama without firing a shot.
